Typing anything in the search field will return books with your search term in any part of the book's metadata. Being a newbie, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the best way to make this work and I'm trying to articulate the jumble in my brain! Is there's any reason to save the original downloaded file instead (after I rename it)? What file name format do you use and why? (Author- title? Title- author?) Is the original format better quality? Saving these would mean my collection tags wouldn't be attached, right? If I copy the Calibre library as my back up instead of keeping the original formats, it's sorted nicely into authors- which makes me think this is the better way to do it.What's the most efficient way to do this? Should I just add each book in the original format, as I download it from Kobo/Kindle (thus the renaming mentioned in the last bullet)? Or does it make more sense to just copy the Calibre libary occasionally and save it as a new file? (although I guess that raises the issue of how to organize books that I haven't uploaded to Calibre or my device) I want to keep a copy of each book on my computer that's separate from my Calibre library, in case Calibre crashes.Do you rename each file as you do this? Is there any need to do that since, once it's uploaded to Calibre, the file will be automatically renamed? When you download a book from the Kobo or Kindle stores to your desktop, they don't download with the proper name or title. Here are a few specific things I'm wondering about: I have a Kobo, if that makes any difference. I'd love to know how you organize and back up your collection. ![]() I've got a bunch of books I've downloaded from the Kobo and Kindle stores, but I'm trying to figure out the best way to manage my collection so that: a) I can find a particular book if I want to upload it to my Kobo, and b) have a back up in case Calibre crashes and/or I lose my library on my computer. Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to the e-reader world.
